Shopian Encounter: Security Forces Gun Down Two Terrorists In Amshipora Area, Says J&K Police

Srinagar: At least two terrorists were gunned down by the security forces in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday, police said.

A police official said the security forces launched a cordon and search operation acting on specific input about the presence of terrorists in Amshipora area of Shopian in south Kashmir, PTI reported.
The official added that the search operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists fired upon the security forces who retaliated.
The police official further said the exchange of fire is going on, adding further details are awaited.
Earlier this month, the officials of the State Investigation Agency during raids at different locations in the Kashmir valley arrested ten Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists, who were part of the terror modules and taking instructions from their commanders.
The arrested terrorists included one at whose house four JeM operatives had been killed earlier on April 4, 2020.
Earlier on February 11, one policeman died and four others were injured after the militants hurled a grenade in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The militants lobbed a grenade towards the cops near Nishat Park in Bandipora. The grenade blast was followed by firing as well.
