Shivpal Yadav Upset Over Not Being Invited For SP Legislative Meet. Jayant Shows Confidence In SP-RLD Alliance

“I am an MLA from the Samajwadi Party but still not invited,” he added during the interaction in Lucknow.

New Delhi: Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohiya) chief Shivpal Singh Yadav, who contested the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections on Samajwadi Party ticket, on Saturday expressed disappointment over not being invited to the party’s legislative meeting.

“I was not invited to the party meeting. I waited for two days and cancelled all my programs for this meeting but I wasn't invited,” ANI quoted former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s uncle as saying.

“I am an MLA from the Samajwadi Party but still not invited,” he added during the interaction in Lucknow.

His remarks come as the Samajwadi Party, which had formed an alliance with the Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohiya) to contest the assembly elections, has convened a meeting today.

The Samajwadi Party during the meeting to be chaired by Akhilesh Yadav is expected to review its performance in the assembly polls and plan for the upcoming legislative council elections.

The Samajwadi Party’s newly-elected MLAs and members of the legislative council will be part of this meeting to be held at the party’s headquarters in the Uttar Pradesh capital, PTI reported.

Meanwhile, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) leader Jayant Chaudhary expressed satisfaction with his party’s performance in the recently-held assembly polls.

“Eight MLAs have won from our party while many MLAs have won from (SP-RLD) alliance, our vote percentage increased too,” said Chaudhary.

“We made people’s issues the main agenda of our campaign and didn't talk about bulldozers,” he added taking a jibe at his political rivals.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 255 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh. The saffron party’s allies Apna Dal (S) and Nishad Party bagged 12 seats and six seats respectively.

The Samajwadi Party came a distant second winning 111 seats and its alliance partners Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party and the RLD got six and eight seats respectively.

The Congress and the Jansatta Dal got two seats each and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) bagged just one seat.
