'Shiv Sena Was Treated Like Slaves By BJP In Previous Govt’: Sanjay Raut

“Even if Shiv Sainiks don't get anything, we can proudly say the state's leadership is now in the hands of the Shiv Sena. The Maha Vikas Aghadi government was formed with this sentiment,” he added.

Jalgaon: Coming down heavily on its former alliance partner Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has alleged that his party was treated as “slaves” and attempts were made to finish off the party politically when it was in power with the saffron party in Maharashtra from 2014 to 2019.

“Despite the fact that Shiv Sena was in power during the past 5 years, attempts were made to eradicate Shiv Sena's presence from every village. The Shiv Sena had a secondary status in the previous government. We were treated like slaves,” he said while addressing his party’s office-bearers in Jalgaon, Maharashtra.

“Even if Shiv Sainiks don't get anything, we can proudly say the state's leadership is now in the hands of the Shiv Sena. The Maha Vikas Aghadi government was formed with this sentiment,” he added.

Raut’s outburst against the BJP came days after Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena supremo Uddhav Thackeray held a one-to-one Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital.

The Shiv Sena-BJP alliance toppled in 2019 over the issue of chief ministership.

The Shiv Sena later formed an alliance with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress to form the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra.
