Shimla: Water tanker driver gets epilepsy attack, runs over 65-year-old woman
There has been an acute shortage of water in the Shimla area. Due to the shortage of water, dozens of tankers are operating on a restricted route.
Shimla: A lady 65-years-old was killed when a water tanker hit her on Saturday. The deceased, Uma Keprate, who was a resident of chotta Shimla area, was hit by the water tanker near Shere Punjab. She was brought dead to Indira Gandhi Medical College Shimla.
There has been an acute shortage of water in the Shimla area. Due to the shortage of water, dozens of tankers are operating on a restricted route. The woman was mowed down by one of these tankers. ASP Praveer Thakur said that the tanker driver suffered epilepsy attack while driving the truck, due to which the woman got hit by the tanker. The Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) today snapped water connections of 20 hotels, two days after the high court ordered the civic body to disconnect supply to the hotels that fail to clear their water bills within 48 hours. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur reviewed the situation through a video link and asked officials to ensure that water is supplied as per the schedule announced by the corporation.#HimachalPradesh: A woman died after being allegedly hit by a water tanker at Shimla's Mall Road.
