As for the faculties in his school, Kejriwal added that retired army and naval officers will train students of classes 9 and 11 for armed forces including NDA, Air Force, and Navy.

New Delhi: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal held a virtual press conference today at 12 noon in which he announced that the special school being opened by the Delhi government for preparing students for armed forces, will be named after freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.

The above-mentioned school will be named Shaheed Bhagat Singh Armed Forces Preparatory School. It will be a free-of-cost residential school in the Jharoda Kalan area of Delhi spread over 14 acres of land.

As for the faculties in the school, Kejriwal added that retired army and naval officers will train students of classes 9 and 11 for armed forces including NDA, Air Force, and Navy.

Kejriwal said that it will be a Modern State-of-the-Art school with all facilities required to train students as armed forces professionals.

The admissions for this school will be done for 100 seats each for classes 9 and 11. The entrance test for class 9 will be held on March 27 and the same for class 11 will be held on March 28.

The entrance test will be phase 1 of the admission process and phase 2 will be interview-based. He added that the school will start this year and for 100 seats they have already received 18,000 applications.

Any student residing in Delhi can take admission to this school, Kejriwal added. Being a residential school, it will have a separate hostel for girls and boys.

The announcement to open such a school was made by the Delhi government in 2019.

The announcement comes on the occasion of Martyr’s Day which is celebrated to mark the death anniversary of freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru.
