SC Makes Judges' Assets Public For First Time. Check CJI Khanna's Net Worth

CJI Khanna, along with his family members, owns 950 grams of gold, 7 kg of silver and a few diamond pieces like earrings and rings.

For the first time, the Supreme Court has uploaded statements of judges' assets on its website to ensure transparency. The court has also placed on its website the complete process of appointments to the high courts and the Supreme Court, including the role assigned to the High Court Collegium, the role of and inputs received from the state governments, the Union of India and consideration by the Supreme Court Collegium. 

The top court in a statement said, "The Full Court of the Supreme Court of India has on 1st April, 2025 decided that the statement of assets of the Judges of this Court shall be placed in the public domain by uploading the same on the website of this Court.  Statements of assets of Judges already received are being uploaded. Statement of assets of other Judges will be uploaded as and when the current statement of assets is received."

What All CJI Sanjiv Khanna, Justice BR Gavai Own?

As per the official asset declaration, Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna's immovable property holdings include a three-bedroom DDA flat in South Delhi and a four-bedroom apartment in Commonwealth Games Village.

He has 56 per cent share in a four-bedroom flat in Gurugram with his daughter holding the remaining 44 per cent, apart from a share in an ancestral house in Himachal Pradesh.

He, along with his family members, owns 950 grams of gold, 7 kg of silver and a few diamond pieces like earrings and rings. He owns a Maruti car, as per the assets declared on the Supreme Court's website. CJI Khanna has Rs 55.75 lakh in fixed deposits and bank accounts and Rs 1.06 crore in Public Provident Fund (PPF).

Justice BR Gavai, who is going to succeed CJI Khanna, has Rs 19.63 lakh in bank accounts and Rs 6.59 lakh in his PPF account. He has declared apartments in Mumbai and Delhi and has also inherited agricultural land in Amravati and Nagpur. Justice Gavai has also declared liabilities to the tune of Rs 1.3 crore.
