Sameer Wankhede Meets NCSC Chairman, NCB Officer's Documents To Be Verified With Maharashtra Govt
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede’s documents are to be verified with the Maharashtra government, said NCSC Chairman Vijay Sampla.
New Delhi: Embroiled in various controversy after the arrest of Aryan Khan and others in drugs on cruise case, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede today met Chairman of National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) in Delhi to submit his documents for further verification.
The NCB officer has come under scrutiny after several allegations have been levelled by Maharashtra minister and National Congress Party (NCP) leader Nawab Malik regarding his caste documents and religious identity.
NCSC Chairman Vijay Sampla told news agency ANI: “Documents provided by Sameer Wankhede will be verified with Maharashtra government. If the documents are found valid then no one can take action against him on the basis of his documents.”

After his meeting with the NCSC Chairman, Sameer Wankhede said, "whatever facts and documents asked by the Commission have been provided to them today. My complaint will be verified and soon Commission's Chairman will reply on it."
Earlier, Arun Halder, the vice-chairperson of NCSC, backed the NCB Officer in question. "One officer is doing his duty and making the department proud. So how can a minister personally attack him and his family members? The government should carry out an investigation in why he is doing so,” he said.
Nawab Malik has levelled multiple allegations against Wankhede claiming that he is a Muslim by birth and has forged a caste certificate to clear UPSC and get a job, reported PTI.
Earlier, Union Minister and Republican Party of India (A) president Ramdas Athawale, had also supported Wankhede saying that he is a Hindu Dalit and follower of BR Ambedkar.
