Salman Khan Death Threat Case: Suspect Arrested From Noida Says Text Was A 'Joke'
The accused told police he sent the text threatening to kill Bollywood actor Salman Khan as a 'joke'.
An 18-year-old youth has been arrested from Noida for allegedly threatening to kill Bollywood actor Salman Khan. The name has been identified as Mohammad Tayyab, a carpenter by profession, sources said.
Notably, Tayyab has been arrested for sending a text message, threatening to kill the actor, to the Mumbai Control Room mobile number. "In the message, he threatened only Salman Khan and no one else. The message said, "We will not spare Salman Khan. It will be very bad. We are giving you the last warning"," sources told ABP News.
As per Noida police officials, Tayyab is just a normal carpenter who used to live in his uncle's house in Delhi's Kardam Puri area.
"His father's name is Mohammad Tahir, who does tailoring work. Tayyab was working as a carpenter at a bungalow being built in Noida's Sector 92. He was getting Rs 8,000 per month for the job," officials said.
During interrogation, the accused told police that he had sent the text "jokingly". The Mumbai police, meanwhile, took Tayyab with them for further investigation into the case.
Meanwhile, on his part, Salman Khan has been maintaining a low profile and has limited his public appearances after the assassination of his politician friend Siddique a few weeks ago. The notorious Lawarence Bisnoi Gang had also claimed responsibility for the former Maharashtra Minister's murder. Earlier also, Salman Khan had received death threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, whose suspected members had opened fire outside the actor's Bandra home in April. The actor's security has been beefed up following the string of threats.
Earlier today, Mumbai police arrested another man from Noida who allegedly threatened to Kill Salman Khan and Zeeshan Siddique, son of the slain NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique. The arrest came after a death threat call was received by Siddiqui’s public relations office in Bandra East on Friday evening.
