Republic Day: Border Security Force & Pakistan Army Exchange Sweets, Greetings At Attari-Wagah Border | WATCH

The Border Security Force (BSF) and the Pakistan Army exchanged sweets and greetings at the Attari-Wagah border on the occasion of India's 73rd Republic Day.

New Delhi: The Border Security Force (BSF) and the Pakistan Army exchanged sweets and greetings at the Attari-Wagah border on the occasion of India's 73rd Republic Day.

The BSF and the Pakistan army were seen exchanging the sweets and greetings at the Attari-Wagah border joint check post (JCP) in a video shared by news agency ANI. 

The Indian and Pakistan Armies had exchanged sweets on New Year's Day this year. 

Last year, the Indian Army and the Pakistan Army had shared sweets at the Attari-Wagah border on the occasion of Diwali.

January 26, 2022 marks India's 73rd Republic Day, which the country is celebrating as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav commemorating 75 years of independence.

India's military might, cultural diversity and many unique initiatives to mark the celebration of the 75th year of independence is set to be showcased at the Republic Day parade this year.

These include a grand fly-past of 75 aircraft of the Indian Air Force, cultural performances.

The Union Ministry of Defence decided that the Republic Day parade will start half an hour later than usual this year. The January 26 parade began at 10:30 am instead of 10 am, so that there is better visibility amid the foggy weather.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari unfurled the national flag at his residence on the occassion of Republic Day, ANI reported.
The Assam Regiment contingent marched down the Rajpath on Republic Day. The contingent comprises troops from all seven North Eastern States, and has been a three-time winner of the Republic Day Parade.
On January 23, the celebrations began. Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the hologram statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at India Gate, Delhi, on Sunday, on the occassion of the freedom fighter's 125th birth anniversary.
