Republic Day 2021: Know The Traffic Diversions, Alternate Routes In Delhi Today & Tomorrow

The tableaux will begin from Vijay Chowk and proceed to the Red Fort Ground. Hence, the traffic movement on the roads leading to the parade's route will be restricted to facilitate smooth passage of the parade. Check the traffic diversion and alternate routes for commuters here today.

Traffic Diversions Update:  In view of the 72th Republic Day Parade on January 26, the Delhi Police has issued traffic guidelines to help the commuters travel smoothly across the capital city. In the advisory, the Delhi Police, has stated that the Republic Day Parade on January 26 (Tuesday) will begin at 9:50 am from Vijay Chowk along Rajpath. The parade will proceed to the National Stadium. The tableaux will also begin from Vijay Chowk and proceed to the Red Fort Ground. Which routes will be blocked?

Note that no traffic will be allowed at Vijay Chowk from 6:00 pm on January 25 till the parade is over.

  • Also, cross traffic on Rajpath intersections will not be restricted on January 25 from 11 pm onwards till the parade is over.
  • 'C'-Hexagon-India Gate will remain closed for traffic from 5:00 am on January 26 till tableaux cross Tilak Marg.
  • Traffic on Tilak Marg, Subhash Marg and BSZ Marg will not be allowed in both carriageways from 4:00 am on January 26

Know the alternative routes below

Commuters in the capital can opt for the following routes:

  • East-West corridor: Commuters have been asked to take Ring Road via Bhairon Road at Mathura Road, Lodhi Road and Vande Matram Marg via Aurobindo Marg, AIIMS Flyover and Dhaula Kuan. To go towards Ring Road-ISBT, motorists can take Chadgi Ram Akhara and Mall road via Azadpur
  • North-South Corridor: If you want to reach Mandir Marg or Sheikh Mujbur Rahman road, commuters can take the route from Madarsa, Lodhi Road T-point via Aurobindo Marg, AIIMS Chowk, Ring Road-Dhaula Kaun Vande Matram Marg, and Shankar Road.
  • To travel to New Delhi Railway Station

From East Delhi: If you want to reach New Delhi Railway Station, commuters can travel from Boulevard Road via ISBT Bridge, Rani Jhansi Flyover, DB Gupta Road and Sheela Cinema Road .

From South Delhi: Commuters can go through Dhaula Kuan, Vande Matram Marg, Panchkuian Road, Connaught Place outer circle, Bhavbhuti Marg for Ajmeri Gate side and Chelmsford Road for Paharganj side or Minto Road.

  • For Old Delhi Railway Station

From South Delhi: Road travellers can take Ring Road, Ashram Chowk, Sarai Kale Khan, Ring Road, Rajghat, Chowk Yamuna Bazar, SP Mukherjee Marg, Chhatta Rail and Kauria Bridge.

What about commuters coming in Haryana?

The Haryana Police has said commuters will face disruptions on NH between Karnal to Delhi and Rohtak to Delhi from Jan 25-27. Traffice on KMP-KGP Expressway will also be impacted and intercahanged at Kundli, Assaudha and Badl will not be accessible to traffic movement on these dates. 

 

What are the restrictions on metro services?

Note that metro services will be available at all stations on January 25-26 but there will not be boarding and deboarding at Central Secretariat (Kendriya Sachivalaya) and Udhyog Bhawan Metro Stations from 5:00 am till 12:00 pm Lok Kalyan Marg, Patel Chowk and ITO from 8:45 am to 12 pm will not be allowed, the Delhi Police said.

What about traffic diversions in Noida?

Meanwhile, route diversions will be in place on January 22-23 and January 25-26 for heavy goods carriers on roads leading from Noida to Delhi, the Gautam Buddh Nagar Traffic Police said . Movement of heavy goods carriers towards Delhi will be completely banned from the Delhi-Noida Direct (DND) flyway, the Kalindi Kunj route, while the Chilla border will remain out of use due to the ongoing farmers' protest there, it stated.

Movement of heavy carriers will remain banned via the alternative New Ashok Nagar and Kondli routes too during this diversion period, several reporst have cited police officials.
