JioMeet vs. Zoom
JioMeet’s features include HD audio and video conferencing calls with up to 100 people. People can sign in through their email ID or mobile number. Each call can continue for 24 hours uninterrupted even at lower bandwidths absolutely free of cost, just like the time they launched free sim cards.
"All your meetings are encrypted and password-protected, ensuring complete privacy and data protection," said the JioMeet team, according to an IANS report but it is unclear if it is going to be end-to-end encryption.
Unlike Zoom, JioMeet doesn’t require a password or invite to enter a phone conference but there’s a “Waiting Room” which users can use to ensure participants get permission before entering a phone call.
"Security and privacy have got more prominence and scrutiny in recent times, and any vendor which is able to offer enterprise-grade security will curry favour," Prabhu Ram, Head-Industry Intelligence Group, CyberMedia Research (CMR), told IANS.
Participants can join the desktop version of the video conference just by clicking the invite even without downloading the app. The video conferencing platform can also be accessed through Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox for users working on desktop aside from mobile apps for Android and iOS.
"Conduct meetings with your customers, partners, and people outside your office. Join from laptop/desktop or mobile device or even your legacy video device as it supports the legacy conferencing devices," according to Jio Platforms said an IANS report.

Video Conferencing, the new normal
As Video calls are becoming the new normal of handling business meets, JioMeet is considered apt and timely by many.
According to an IANS report, Ram also said, “The current market dynamics will potentially provide enough tailwinds to JioMeet to gain currency, on the back of its features, such as no limits on call durations, and seamless switching between devices.” The application has been downloaded 1,00,000 times already on Google Play Store, it can be used for 1:1 video calls and hosting meetings with up to 100 participants.
