Ram Temple: Govt Donates Rs 1 In Cash To Trust To Begin Work; Ayodhya Seers To Meet Today
The trust will accept donations, grants, subscriptions, aids or contribution from any person in cash, kind, including immovable properties, without any conditions.
New Delhi: After the announcement of the 15-member Trust for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, the government, on Wednesday, made the first donation of Re 1 in cash to the 'Shri Ram Janmbhoomi teerth Kshetra' trust to begin its work in Ayodhya.
D Murmu, an under-secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, contributed the amount to the trust on behalf of the central government. The trust will accept donations, grants, subscriptions, aids or contribution from any person in cash, kind, including immovable properties, without any conditions, an official was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
It will initially function from the residence of senior lawyer K Parasaran but will look for a permanent office later, the official said.
Meanwhile, expressing their displeasure over non-inclusion in the Trust, several senior seers of Ayodhya have called up for a meeting at 3pm on Thursday.
The Centre on Wednesday constituted an independent 15-member Trust to oversee the construction of a "grand and magnificent" Ram temple in Ayodhya, an announcement made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha four days before the expiry of a 3-month deadline set by the Supreme Court.

The announcement of a "broad scheme" for developing a Ram temple and formation of a Trust named 'Shri Ram Janambhoomi Teertha Kshetra', that came ahead of the Delhi assembly polls, was made by the prime minister, shortly after a meeting of the Union Cabinet presided by him gave its approval.
In a rare occasion, Modi spoke in the Lok Sabha as soon as the House convened at 11 am, telling members he wants to share information on a "very important and historical subject for the country."
"This topic is close to my heart like millions of countrymen and I consider it my great fortune to talk about it," he said.
On the basis of the SC directive my government has today given the approval for a broad scheme for the building of a grand and magnificent Ram temple at the birth place of Lord Ram at Ayodhya and constituted an independent trust named 'Shri Ram Janambhoomi Teertha Kshetra' to oversee its construction.
"This Trust will be empowered to take independent decisions on construction of the temple and other related subjects," the PM said. The Trust, which will have its registered office in Delhi, will have a representative from the Dalit community.
The government named members of the trust, officials said.
Meanwhile on Wednesday, the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday cleared the proposal to give 5 acres land to the Sunni Central Waqf Board for construction of a mosque in Ayodhya, as had been directed by the Supreme Court while settling the Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title case last year.
The land has been allotted about 200 metres behind the Rounahi police station in village Dhannipur, Tehsil Sohawal, 18 km from the district headquarters, state ministers Siddharth Nath Singh and Shrikant Sharma said while briefing the media about the cabinet decisions.
