Rajasthan Temple's Foundation Built Over 11,000 Litres Of Milk, Curd And Ghee

According to the villagers, donating ghee, curd, and milk for the construction of the temple is a way to mark their devotion to lord Devnarayan.

Jaipur: In a bizarre incident, as much as 11,000 litres of milk, ghee and curd were poured into the foundation pit of the Devnarayan temple. This incident took place in the Ratlai region of Jhalawar district of Rajasthan. A program was organized by the locals to lay and fill the foundation pit of the temple. According to villagers, donating ghee, curd, and milk for the construction of the temple is a way to mark their devotion to Lord Devnarayan.

Ramlal Gujjar, spokesperson of the temple construction committee, said 11,000 litres of milk, ghee, and curd was collected exclusively from the members of the Gujjar community for the foundation ceremony of the temple. “We collected 11,000 litres of milk, desi ghee, and curd from the Gujjar community members and even others for the foundation ceremony of the Devnarayan temple as a mark of reverence for deity Lord Devnarayan,” Ramlal Gujjar said.

The spokesperson of the temple said that out of the 11000 litres, there was 1500 litre of curd and 1 quintal of desi ghee while the rest was milk and its total cost was nearly Rs 1.50 lakh.

“We had appealed to the Gujjar community members a day before the ceremony and the people gave generously,” he said.

Speaking about the tradition, Gujjar said that there is nothing in comparison to what Lord Devnarayan has done for the community and the milk pouring tradition is not mandatory but has been done a few times in the past.

“We owe everything to the lord so we donated milk products to him for the foundation ceremony. The temple devoted to the Gujjar community is being built at a cost of Rs 1 crore and likely to be ready in the next two years,” he further added.
