BJP Mulls Reshuffle In Rajasthan Unit Ahead Of Polls, Ex-CM Vasundhara Raje Seeks Reconciliation

Vasundhara Raje had met top leaders of the BJP including PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to improve her ties with party high command before dates for Rajasthan Assembly election draw close.

New Delhi: Even as Rajasthan Assembly elections are slated to take place next year, political activities in the desert state have started to accelerate as the country's two biggest political parties — the BJP and the Congress — are scheduled to hold meetings for the same.

As the activities intensify, BJP vice president and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has initiated efforts for reconciliation with the party after an up and down relationship with party high command that had been well known for the past one and half months, reported news agency IANS.

In this regard, she had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national President J.P. Nadda, and Union Minister and former party chief Nitin Gadkari and presented her point of view. On March 24, Raje met the Prime Minister, Gadkari, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Rajasthan BJP in-charge Arun Singh.

Raje had also met Amit Shah during her visit to Dehradun to attend the oath taking ceremony of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. On March 29, she met Nadda in the national capital.

While Raje is putting her best efforts to improve ties with the party high command before poll dates draw close, the party is focusing on restoring the Rajasthan unit first.

Talking to IANS, a senior BJP leader said currently, the party will try to root out factionalism prevalent in the state unit. That's why on April 19, Nadda had advised party workers to fight unitedly against the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government.

When asked about the party's strategy regarding contesting elections under collective leadership, the leader said that it will depend upon the political situation of the concerned state.

“Raje had served as Chief Minister and there is no doubt that, she is a strong BJP leader and that is why the party has given her the important responsibility but as far as chief ministerial face is concerned, it depends on the political situation of the state concerned,” said the leader, quoted by the news agency.

Meanwhile, the news agency also reported that most of the members of the saffron party are of the view that the election should be fought under collective leadership. However, for the final decision and announcement of the BJP on a chief ministerial face will have to wait till the poll dates get closer.
