Nikhil Kamath Seeks Internship At Perplexity AI; Here's How Co-Founder Aravind Srinivas Reacts

During the conversation, Srinivas shared his experience of a short internship in Bengaluru, where he spent three weeks working in Koramangala

Aravind Srinivas, co-founder of Perplexity AI, recently joined the WTF Online podcast, hosted by Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath. During their conversation, Kamath made a surprising suggestion—he expressed a sincere interest in interning at Perplexity AI for three months, even offering to work without compensation.

Towards the end of their conversation, Kamath asked, “Do you think it might be possible for me to intern at Perplexity, work for maybe three months, free of charge?” Srinivas initially chuckled, remarking that Kamath was too accomplished for such a role. However, Kamath persisted, assuring him that his request was genuine. He explained that he wanted to dive deeper into AI, feeling that his current routine wasn't providing him with enough learning opportunities.

Srinivas embraced the idea, saying it would be an honor to have Kamath join the team. Kamath, in turn, jokingly added that he might show up at Perplexity within the next 30 days to bug Srinivas daily.

Srinivas' Experience In Bengaluru

During the conversation, Srinivas shared his experience of a short internship in Bengaluru, where he spent three weeks working in Koramangala. Despite being in one of the city’s most vibrant areas, he admitted that he hardly explored it, as he was fully immersed in work. Reflecting on it now, he felt he had missed out on the chance to truly experience the city.

However, he had no regrets about avoiding Bengaluru's infamous traffic, which he recalled as being quite bad even during his time there. “I hear it’s even worse now,” he remarked, suggesting that staying in and focusing on work might have been a smart decision.

One thing that did stand out to him, however, was Bengaluru's weather. Coming from Chennai, he found the city's climate much more comfortable. He said that the weather was definitely better than Chennai.
