'Shut KFC Outlets If...': AAP's Dare After BJP Says Open Meat Shops Hurt Religious Sentiments During Navratri

The AAP has challenged the BJP to close KFCs and liquor stores in Delhi after the BJP raised concerns about meat shops hurting religious sentiments during Navratri.

The Aam Aadmi Party dared the BJP-led government to shut down KFC and liquor outlets in Delhi after the BJP said in the assembly that meat shops open during Navratri were hurting religious sentiments. BJP MLA Ravindra Negi raised the issue during Question Hour.

Delhi PWD Minister Pravesh Verma requested MLAs to report to the government any encroachment by meat shops on PWD roads in their respective constituencies. Verma said action would be taken against encroachment in any part of Delhi.

He appealed to all the MLAs to make a list of it in their respective assembly constituencies and hand it over to him and when a drive is launched against encroachment, he would personally oversee it. "Encroachment will not be tolerated in Delhi," he said.

Verma also informed the House that orders have already been issued to remove illegal units selling meat or fish.

AAP Says Shut KFCs

Reacting to Ravinder Negi's remark of religious sentiments being hurt by meat shops, the AAP's Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said to the BJP: "Here there are Embassies of various countries, there, meat and fish are cooked. Ask Modiji to shut embassies. There are so many guest houses in Delhi from various countries, even there also meat is cooked. KFC outlets and BJP leaders' restaurants are open; try closing them if you [BJP] have the guts. Why are liquor shops open during Navratri? Close liquor shops throughout Navratri."

Singh further said that the BJP was only targeting the poor.
