The remarks of MNS chief Raj Thackeray came on the heels of a violent incident where MNS cadres allegedly attacked Kedia’s office, following his public declaration that he would not learn Marathi.

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has stirred fresh controversy with a provocative statement on the ongoing Marathi language debate, just hours after his party workers allegedly vandalised the office of economist Sushil Kedia in Mumbai. Raj Thackeray said that if the party workers beat someone they should not record videos of it.

Raj Thackeray said, as per ANI: “Be it Gujarati or anyone else, they must know Marathi. But there is no need to beat people for that. Kedia, a longtime Mumbai resident and founder of Kedionomics, had posted a series of critical statements on social media earlier this week.
BJP Hits At Uddhav Thackeray
In a pointed political attack, Maharashtra Revenue Minister and former BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule accused Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray of exploiting the Marathi language issue to mask his electoral ambitions.
Responding to Thackeray’s remarks at the recent “Awaj Marathicha” rally in Worli, Bawankule claimed it was clear the former chief minister’s real priority wasn’t ‘M’ for Marathi, but ‘M’ for Municipal Corporation.
