Rain LIVE Updates 2023: Hello and welcome to ABP Live's Moonsoon 2023 LIVE blog. Please follow this space for all the news and latest updates regarding the downpour across various parts of the country. Large parts of India continue to battle flood and waterlogging issues as rain continues to lash the states of Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Gujarat, and Delhi. Huge loss of lives and damage to property have been reported with several instances of landslides and rockslides. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued 'Red', 'Orange', and 'Yellow' alerts for several states and districts.
The water level of the Yamuna river in Delhi has started to rise again after fresh spells of rain lashed parts of the national capital on Wednesday. The river was overflowing at 205.08 metres, as recorded by the Central Water Commission at 8 am. People living in the relief camps amid flooding are now battling new problems now such as the spread of Eye flu. The residents of Uttar Pradesh's Noida woke up to a similar view as heavy rain lashed parts of the city here as well this morning. Amid incessant rain, the Hindon river has been swelling up due to which a number of cars got submerged in the area near Ecotech 3.
The situation in Himachal Pradesh continues to look grim as the massive flood-like situations persist. Following a cloudburst in Kullu's Gadsa valley, high-current flood water obliterated houses nearby. District officials were seen using cranes to clear the debris due to landslides and heavy rain in the state following the cloudburst. Many uprooted trees were also seen lying along the streets. The cloudburst also disrupted the power supply in the area and caused immense damage to the agricultural land, said officials. According to a report by news agency PTI, at least two bridges and several cattle are feared to have been washed away due to the cloudburst.
The situation in Maharashtra is also worsening. Amid incessant downpours, IMD has issued a 'Red' alert for Raigarh, Pune, Satara and Ratnagiri districts for 26th July. The weather bureau has also issued an 'Orange' alert for Mumbai, Palghar and Thane.
IMD sounded a 'Red' alert for the state of Telangana till Thursday. IMD Hyderabad Director Dr K Nagaratna while talking to news agency ANI said that extremely heavy Rainfall over the eastern districts is expected to happen. Hyderabad and adjoining districts are likely to have very heavy rainfall. One person has died in Hyderabad after asbestos sheets fell on him amid heavy rains and thunderstorms in Telangana. The rainfall has also caused widespread waterlogging and flooding in various parts of the city. Roads and low-lying areas remained inundated on Tuesday, leading to disruptions in vehicular traffic and crippling normal life. The situation was grim in areas like Saidabad, Singareni Officers' Colony, Kodandaram Nagar, Saroornagar, Gajularamaram, and Malkampet where water entered residential areas. To ensure the safety of people, authorities shifted residents from low-lying, inundated areas to safer places.
