Railway News: Train Journey To Be More Expensive, Know New Additional Charges
An important update for people travelling by train. Next time you travel by train you will have to pay more fare.
New Delhi: If you travel by train, your journey is expected to cost you a tad more. Passengers will have to pay an additional charge, ranging between Rs 10 and Rs 50, for boarding trains from stations that have been redeveloped or will be redeveloped shortly, according to a report by Times Of India. Similar charges will be added for de-boarding the trains at stations that have been revamped or will be revamped soon. Passengers will not have to pay this additional fee separately. The fee will be automatically added to the ticket fare while booking the tickets.
Fee to be added to five categories
The additional charges for railway passengers will be added to five categories. The highest fee will be charged in AC First Class and subsequently less for AC-2, AC-3, and Sleeper classes. The lowest fee will be charged from the passengers traveling in the general category.
The Railway Ministry will soon add this fee to the ticket fare. The additional fee will increase the revenue of private companies that will be developing stations. After this move, the Ministry expects that more private companies will be encouraged to participate in the development of stations and passengers will get the benefit of new facilities at such stations.
Additional Charges at Redeveloped station
Sources said that the Railways had sent the proposal in this regard to the Cabinet. However, a decision has been taken that the national transporter will notify the charges on its own and will come out with a detailed policy. However, the additional fee will now be charged only at stations that have been redeveloped.
