Rahul Gandhi Walks To BJP MP Injured During Protest In Parliament, Here's What Happens Next — WATCH

Union Minister Bhupender Yadav shared a video of Rahul Gandhi approaching Pratap Sarangi and claimed that the Congress leader walked away with accusations instead of apologising to the hurt MP.

The Parliament session on Thursday was disrupted by the opposition's protest, which escalated into a brawl with the MPs of both camps trading charges of assault against each other.

The protests by the opposition and ruling party MPs over the alleged insult to BR Ambedkar led to jostling in Parliament premises on Thursday morning, leaving BJP MPs Pratap Chandra Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput injured. Meanwhile, Congress alleged that party president Mallikarjun Kharge was also injured as his knees had been hurt in the protests.

Union Minister Bhupender Yadav shared a video of Rahul Gandhi approaching Pratap Sarangi and claimed that the Congress leader walked away with accusations instead of apologising to the hurt MP.

Yadav lashed out at Congress calling it a 'blot on democracy' adding that the video captures the "arrogance of the Gandhi scion".

"Look at the arrogance of the Gandhi scion. Instead of aplogising for injuring an aged BJP MP, Shri Pratap Sarangi, Rahul Gandhi walks away with accusations. So much for being mohabbat ki dukan. Such entitlement! Congress continues to be blot on democracy," Bhupender Yadav said.

Pratap Sarangi, who was injured outside the Parliament, said, "Rahul Gandhi pushed an MP who fell on me after which I fell down... I was standing near the stairs when Rahul Gandhi came and pushed an MP who then fell on me."

The Congress, meanwhile, claimed that the party MPs were physically obstructed from entering the Parliament. The party said that Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi was physically manhandled by three MPs of the BJP and called it "a clear violation of the privileges extended to the LoP."

"Today, members of the INDIA alliance were peacefully protesting and marching from the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar statue to Makar Dwar when they were physically obstructed from entering the Parliament. Also, the LoP in the Lok Sabha, Shri @RahulGandhi too was physically manhandled by 3 MPs of the ruling party. This amounts to a clear violation of the privileges extended to the LoP and an infringement on his rights as an MP," the Congress said in a post on X.

Congress said that the leaders of the INDIA alliance have written to Lok Sabha Speaker to express their anguish and urged him to look into the serious matter and take action.

"The blatant attack on Rahul ji was not just an assault on his dignity but on the democratic spirit of our Parliament. Leaders of the INDIA alliance have written to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha to express their anguish and have urged him to look into the serious matter and take appropriate action," the post added.
