Rahul Gandhi Said He Needs Time To Compile Details: Delhi Police Serves Notice Over 'Sexual Assault' Remark In J&K

Delhi police has served notice to Rahul Gandhi and said that the leader asked for some time to compile details of 'sexual harassment' victims...

Delhi Police Special CP(L&O) Sagar Preet Hooda has said that the police officials met Rahul Gandhi regarding details of victims of 'sexual harassment' and the leader has sought time to compile the details. Hooda said that the Congress MP asked for some time saying that the yatra was very long and he met many people.

According to ANI, Hooda said, "We held a meeting with Rahul Gandhi. He said he needs some time and will give us the information which we've asked for. Today we've served a notice which has been accepted by his office and if questioning needs to be done then we will do it."

"Rahul Gandhi said it was a long yatra and he met many people and needs time to compile it. He has assured us that he will give the information soon and we will begin our proceedings as soon as we receive the information," the officer further said.

The police earlier in the day reached Rahul Gandhi's residence in Delhi days after sending him a notice to furnish details of women who shared their ordeal of 'sexual harassment' with him during his Bharat Jodo Yatra in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was seen leaving from his residence after meeting with the Delhi police officials.

Congress reacted sharply to the development and said that this was not possible without Union Home Minister 'Amit Shah's order'.

Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot claimed that police arrived at Rahul Gandhi's residence after taking orders from Home Minister Amit Shah. He said, "Without Amit Shah's order, it is not possible that police could show such audacity to enter the house of a national leader without any reason. Rahul Gandhi said that he has received the notice and he will reply to it but still, the police went to his house."

Reacting to the development, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera told reporters that he was allegedly not allowed to enter the road leading to Rahul Gandhi's residence.

"Are they afraid of Rahul Gandhi, or are they trying to scare him? Either case, they are wrong," Khera said.

Party MP Jairam Ramesh said that everything is being done to divert attention from the demand for a JPC probe on Adani stocks by the opposition parties.

"16 Opposition parties except TMC are demanding JPC but suddenly they (BJP) brought up an issue of what Rahul Gandhi said in London. They are presenting his statement in a distorted manner to divert attention from JPC and to defame Congress and Rahul Gandhi," he told ANI.

He said, "It has been 45 days since Bharat Jodo Yatra ended. They (Delhi police) are going for questioning after 45 days. If they are so much concerned why didn't they go to him in February? Rahul Gandhi's legal team will respond to it as per law."
