Boy Injured In 'Pushpa 2' Stampede Shifted To Rehab Centre, Continues Recovery

An eight-year-old boy who sustained severe injuries in a stampede during a screening of the film 'Pushpa 2' last December has been moved to a neurorehabilitation facility to continue his recovery, according to a statement from KIMS Cuddles hospital in Secunderabad. The child, Sritej, had been receiving intensive care at the hospital since December 4, 2024, after he was critically injured in the chaotic incident. He was initially brought to the hospital by police and bystanders who administered CPR at the scene.
Although he still faces neurological challenges, the hospital reports that he is now stable, able to take food orally, and no longer requires oxygen or respiratory assistance, as per a report on PTI.
'Pushpa 2' Screening Stampede & Aftermath
Tragically, the stampede also claimed the life of his 35-year-old mother. The incident sparked widespread outrage and led to the arrest of actor Allu Arjun on December 13 in connection with the case. He was released the next day on interim bail, later receiving regular bail.
In the aftermath, Allu Arjun and the film’s production team contributed Rs 2 crore in financial aid to support the boy and his family. The Telangana government also pledged assistance.
Speaking in December, the boy’s father, Bhaskar, confirmed that his son had regained consciousness and expressed gratitude for the help they had received. He noted receiving a Rs 10 lakh demand draft from Allu Arjun, with further backing from the production team and state Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy.
Meanwhile, 'Pushpa 2: The Rule' (2024) is a Telugu action drama film starring Allu Arjun reprising his titular role, alongside Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, Jagapathi Babu, Sunil, Rao Ramesh among others. The movie, a sequel to 'Pushpa: The Rise' (2021), was written and directed by Sukumar.
