White Santro Car, Fake Number Plate & 20 Kgs Of IED: Pulwama-Like Bombing Bid By Terrorists & How Security Forces Foiled It

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir were able to avert another attack in South Kashmir's Pulwama district after they stopped a car laden with 20 kg of an improvised explosive device (IED).

New Delhi: In a major achievement, the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir were able to avert a terror attack planned on lines similar to the 2019 attack, in South Kashmir's Pulwama district after they stopped a car laden with 20 kg of an improvised explosive device (IED). The Pulwama-like attack was foiled by the Indian forces after timely detection of the device inside a car in southern Pulwama district’s Rajpora area. As per latest inputs, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been briefed about the operation. 2o KGs Of IED In White Santro Car With Fake Number Plate: After “specific intelligence” inputs, CRPF and police recovered a suspicious car in Rajpora area in Pulwama. The 'Santro' car with  a fake registration number was recovered at Ayengund area , with a huge amount of IED hidden inside it. It was fitted in such a way that it made it impossible for the forces to shift it to another location and the bomb had to be detonated on the spot. Preliminary investigations suggest that  its driver, who is suspected to be a Hizbul Mujahideen militant, left it near Ayengund while initially jumping a naka in the area. The militant left the vehicle and escaped under the cover of darkness even as some gunshots were exchanged in the area, an official told.  He said that the explosives device was destroyed by a Bomb Disposal Squad later. Adressing a press conference, Vijay Kumar, IG Police Kashmir, said that the police had received information that a militant of Jaish-e-Mohammed was going to carry out the operation. So we suspect that Adil (occupant of the car carrying IED) - a Hizbul Mujahideen militant is also in touch with Jaish-e-Mohammed, said Kumar. He intended to target vehicles of security forces. We are calling expert teams from the outside. We suspect that the vehicle was carrying 40-45 kg of explosives, Kumar added. Kashmir Zone police informed about the success of the operation in a tweet: Last year, security forces were attacked by a vehicle-borne suicide bomber at Lethpora (near Awantipora) in the Pulwama district, Jammu and Kashmir. The attacker was Adil Ahmad Dar, a local from Pulwama district, and a member of Jaish-e-Mohammed. Watch here: Pulwama-like bombing foiled, 20 kg IED recovered from car
