Public Holidays In 2022: Complete List Of Gazetted Holidays Announced By Govt
As per the list, there are 16 gazetted holidays and 30 restricted holidays for the upcoming year.
New Delhi: As the new year is just round the corner, the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions in an official statement issued a list gazetted and restricted holidays for the upcoming year 2022.
Restricted holiday is also called an optional holiday and it is not mandatory to close the office on that day. Gazetted holiday is basically a holiday that is said by the government to be mandatory.
As per the government list, there are a total of 16 gazetted holidays and 30 restricted holidays for the upcoming year.

March 1 – Maha Shivaratri (Tuesday)
March 18 – Holi (Friday)
April 14 – Mahavir Jayanti, Vaisakhi, Vishu, Meshadi (Thursday)
April 15 – Good Friday (Friday)
May 3 – Id-ul-Fitr (Tuesday)
May 16 – Buddha Purnima (Monday)
July 10 – Id-ul-Zuha/ Bakrid (Sunday)
August 9 – Muharram (Tuesday)
August 15 – Independence Day (Monday)
August 19 – Janmashtami (Friday)
October 2 – Mahatma Gandhi’s Birthday (Sunday)
October 5 – Dussehra (Wednesday)
October 24 – Diwali (Monday)
November 8 – Guru Nanak’s Birthday (Tuesday)
December 25 – Christmas Day (Sunday)
