ISRO Launches PSLVC49 Carrying EOS-01 Earth Observation Satellite In Its 51st Space Mission; Check Key Highlights

ISRO launched PSLVC49 today which is carrying an earth observation satellite along with nine international customer satellites.

New Delhi: Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has launched the PSLVC49 today in its 51st mission.  According to an official release, the PSLVC49 contains EOS-01 as the primary satellite along with nine international customer satellites from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota. EOS-01 is an earth observation satellite intended for applications in agriculture, forestry, and disaster management support. While the customer satellites are being launched under a commercial agreement with NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), Department of Space. The official release also said that the launch viewing gallery will be closed. The entire launch is available as a live telecast. The rocket's primary payload is India's radar imaging satellite EOS-01, formerly RISAT-2BR2.EOS-01 is an advanced series of earth observation Risat satellite whose synthetic aperture radar (SAR) can also see through clouds regardless of any weather day and night.India's new ‘eye in the sky’ will boost the military’s surveillance capability from space and help the security forces keep a hawk-eye on the borders. The last mission by the ISRO was done in December last year, in which it launched an earth observation satellite RISAT-2BR1. After that, in January 2020, the GSAT-30 communication satellite was launched onboard Ariane-5 VA-251. The organisation was also supposed to launch GISAT-1 onboard GSLV-F10 on 5 March 2020, which was postponed due to technical issues.
