Pride: World's Largest National Flag Hoisted In Ladakh, Was Done In Presence Of Army Chief Naravane

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the world's largest national flag has been hoisted in the Union Territory of Ladakh. Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane was also present on the occasion.

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Lt. Governor of Union Territory of Ladakh, Shri. R.K. Mathur hoisted the Indian Tricolour flag made of khadi cloth. This was the World's largest National Flag. This tricolour flag was hoisted on the Zanskar Hill in Leh. The flag has been hoisted on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a leader who has always been considered synonymous with Khadi.  

This flag weighs 1000 kgs:

The Khadi National Flag has been hoisted in Leh, the capital of Ladakh. During the hoisting ceremony, Air Force helicopters flew past in honor of the tricolor. According to Doordarshan, the broadcaster of the opening ceremony, it is 225 feet in length, 150 feet in width and weighs 1000 kg. 4500 meters of Khadi cloth has been used to make it.  

Army Chief Naravane was also part of the ceremony:

Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane and other top officers of the Army also participated in this hoisting program. Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane is on a two-day visit to Ladakh, where he has been reported analysing the current border situation. After this program, while commenting about the standoff situation beween India and China, he said that the situation has been normal for the past 6 months. The 13th round of talks with China are scheduled to be held in the second week of October. Hopefully a consensus can be reached between the two countries.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Manwadia tweeted on the tricolour hoisting ceremony by saying, "It is a very proud moment for all Indians to witness unveiling and hoisting of the World's largest flag, India's tricolour in Leh, Ladakh on Gandhiji's birth anniversary. I salute the Indian Army's spirit that remembers Bapu, promotes Indian artisans and respects the nation.

It is a moment of great pride for 🇮🇳 that on Gandhi ji's Jayanti, the world's largest Khadi Tiranga is unveiled in Leh, Ladakh.

I salute this gesture which commemorates Bapu's memory, promotes Indian artisans and also honours the nation.

Many leaders paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on social media. On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Defense Minister has reached the Union Territory of Lakshadeep, where he would be unveiling a statue of Mahatma Gandhi.
