'PMAY-G Has Given New Morale To Dreams Of Tripura': PM Modi Transfers 1st Instalment To Beneficiaries

PM Modi said that the first instalment of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-G) given today, has given new morale to the dreams of Tripura.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi transferred the first instalment of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-G) to more than 1.47 lakh beneficiaries of Tripura on Sunday.

According to the Prime Minister`s Office, more than Rs 700 crore was credited directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries on the occasion.

After transferring the amount to Tripura beneficiaries, PM Modi said, "Today, Tripura and the entire northeast are becoming witnesses to change. The first instalment of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-G) given today, has given new morale to the dreams of Tripura."

PM Modi lauded Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb and thanked him and his government for changing the govt culture, old ways of working, and old attitude within such a short span of time.  PM Modi said, "The youthful energy with which Biplab Deb is working, that energy can be seen across Tripura today."

PM Modi further said that there is no place in Tripura for the mindset that kept the state poor and its people devoid of all facilities. PM Modi said, "The double engine govt is working for the development of the state, with all their energy and honesty. Agartala and Delhi form policies together for the development of Tripura."

Targeting the previous governments, PM Modi said that earlier policies were formed behind closed doors in Delhi and then unsuccessful attempts were made to fit the northeast in this. This cutting off from the ground leads to segregation. So, in the last 7 years, the nation has fixed a new mindset, a new approach

The PMO further said that following the Prime Minister`s intervention, taking into account the unique geo-climatic condition of Tripura, the definition of `kuccha` house has been changed specifically for the state, which has enabled such a large number of beneficiaries living in `kuccha` houses to get assistance to construct a `pucca` house.

Union Rural Development Minister Giriraj Singh and the chief minister of Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb were also present during the event.

This comes ahead of the municipal polls in Tripura, which are slated to be held on 25 November. The ruling BJP won 112 out of the total 334 seats uncontested in the civic body polls in Tripura on 9 November. A total of 785 contestants are in the fray for the remaining 222 seats, which goes to the election on 25 November.

Altogether there are 334 seats in the urban local bodies, including Agartala Municipal Corporation (51 wards), 13 Municipal Councils, and six Nagar Panchayats across the state.
