PM Oath-Taking Ceremony: When, Where & How To Watch Narendra Modi's Swearing-In Today

Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi and his council of ministers are poised to take oath today at 7:15 PM.

Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi is poised to take oath on Sunday (June 9) for a third consecutive term, equalling the feat of first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, who won in 1952, 1957 and 1962 general elections. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan at 7:15 PM. 

Along with Narendra Modi, his Council of ministers will also be taking oath today.

After enjoying a majority fir two full tenures, Modi will now be heading a coalition government after BJP's seat tally fell to 240 from 303 in 2019 elections.

India has invited leaders from its neighbourhood and the Indian Ocean Region to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the prime minister and his council of ministers today.

The dignitories who have accepted the invitation include President of Maldives Mohamed Muizzu, Sri Lanka President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Vice-President of Seychelles Ahmed Afif, Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, Prime Minister of Bhutan Tshering Tobgay, and Prime Minister of Nepal Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda'. 

In view of the ceremony, security across the national capital has beefed up. Over 1,000 Delhi Traffic personnel have been deployed and Delhi has been declared a no-flying zone for June 9 and 10.

According to media reports, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge will be attending Modi's swearing-in ceremony, although no official confirmation has been given yet.

Meanwhile, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee announced that Trinamool Congress party would not attend the event. "Neither we have got any invitation nor are we attending it," Banerjee stated in Kolkata.
