PM Modi To Visit US Sept 21-23 For Quad, UN 'Summit of the Future'

PM Modi will also hold bilateral meetings with several world leaders on the sidelines of the QUAD Leader Summit, where he will discuss issues of mutual interest.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the US on September 21 for the QUAD Leader Summit in Delaware, which is being hosted by US President Joe Biden this year.

"Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will be visiting the United States of America during 21-23 September 2024. During the visit, the Prime Minister will take part in the fourth Quad Leaders’ Summit in Wilmington, Delaware, which is being hosted by the President of the United States of America, H.E. Joseph R. Biden, Jr. on 21 September 2024," a government statement said on Tuesday. 

The meeting comes after the US requested to host the Quad Summit this year. India has agreed to host the next Quad Summit next year, it said.

"At the Quad Summit, the leaders will review the progress achieved by the Quad over the last one year and set the agenda for the year ahead to assist the countries of the Indo-Pacific region in meeting their development goals and aspirations," it added.

PM Modi will also address the 'Summit of the Future' at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on 23 September, where the theme of the summit is ‘Multilateral Solutions for a Better Tomorrow’. A large number of global leaders are expected to participate in the Summit. 

On the sidelines of the summit, the prime minister will also hold bilateral meetings with several world leaders and discuss issues of mutual interest. 

PM Modi will address a gathering of the Indian community in New York on September 22. He would also interact with CEOs of leading US-based companies to foster greater collaboration in the cutting-edge areas of AI, quantum computing, semiconductors and biotechnology, the statement said. 

He will also interact with thought leaders and other stakeholders active in the India-US bilateral landscape.

In an earlier statement, the While House said that Biden will host the fourth in-person Quad leaders summit with leaders from Australia, India and Japan on September 21 at his Delaware residence. Apart from Modi and Biden, Australian PM Anthony Albanese and Japanese PM Kishida Fumio will attend the summit.
