'Technology Is Integral To Fight Against Covid-19': PM Modi At CoWIN Global Conclave
Sharing his thoughts on the CoWIN Global Conclave, PM Narendra Modi said that India is committed to share its experience, expertise and resources with the global community.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday addressed the CoWIN Global Conclave as India offers CoWIN as a digital public good to the World to combat Covid-19. The India-developed CoWIN portal has emerged as a cutting-edge Indian IT platform that laid the foundation of world's largest vaccine drive.
Sharing his thoughts an the CoWIN Global Conclave, PM Narendra Modi said that India is committed to share its experiences, expertise and resources with the global community.

"Right from the begining of this pandemic, India has been committed to sharing our experiences, expertise and resources with the global community in this battle. Despite our constrainst, we have tried to share as much as possible with the world. We remain eager to learn from global practices," PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister noted that Technology is integral to our fight against Covid-19. He said that software is one area that made the tracking and tracing of Covid patients possible and allowed to provide the essentials to the needy.
"This open-source end-to-end encrypted technology has made it possible to administer 350 million doses of the Covid vaccine. A few days ago we vaccinated 9 million people on a single day. They don't have to carry a fragile piece of paper to prove their vaccine status," PM said.
Describing the importance of vaccination with the suppprt systen of technology to emerge successfully from the pandemic, Prime Minister said that India adopted a completely digital approach while planning the massive vaccination strategy.
"Indian civilisation considers the whole world as one family. This pandemic has made many people realise fundamental truth of this philosophy. That's why, our technology platform for COVID vaccination - the platform we call CoWIN- is being prepared to be made open source," the Prime Minister announced.
Last month, several reports emerged stating that about 50 countries, including Canada, Mexico, Nigeria and Panama, want to use a system like CoWIN for their vaccination drive and India also agreed to share 'open source software' for free.
Dr RS Sharma, chairman of the Empowered Group for the Covid-19 Vaccine Campaign, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed officials to develop an 'open source software' of the software and provide it free of cost to any country interested in it.
