PM Modi To Celebrate Diwali With Army Jawans At Western Border

According to reports, PM Modi is expected to travel to Jaisalmer on Saturday, where he may spend hi Diwali with the soldiers on the western region border.

New Delhi: In order to maintain the tradition of celebrating Diwali with the security forces, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is doing since 2014 after he assumed the post. It is expected that the PM will be celebrating this year’s Diwali with the soldiers posted on the western front.  According to reports, PM Modi is expected to travel to Jaisalmer on Saturday, where he may spend hi Diwali with the soldiers on the western region border. As part of his tradition every year, PM Modi visits soldiers in Kashmir and Northern front to celebrate the festival but this year, this year given how the situation is along the borders, he plans to boost the morale of forces along the Western border. In order to boost the morale of the security forces, while addressing the nation on Friday, a day before Diwali PM Modi asked the countrymen to light a diya for the soldiers on the border. “This Diwali, let us also light a Diya as a #Salute2Soldiers who fearlessly protect our nation. Words can’t do justice to the sense of gratitude we've for our soldiers for their exemplary courage. We're also grateful to families of those on the borders,” said PM Modi. Last year during Diwali, PM Modi called the soldiers as their family and praised them for guarding the borders during festivals away from family. “It is a tradition that people celebrate Diwali with their families. I also decided to celebrate it with my family. I have come here to celebrate it with you. You are my family,” Modi told army personnel in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district near the Line of Control. PM Modi spent his first Diwali in the office with soldiers at Siachen, the world's highest battlefield. He reportedly spent Diwalis in a similar manner when he was Chief Minister of Gujarat. PM Modi now has visited Jammu and Kashmir thrice for the occasion of Diwali. While in 2018, he visited Kedarnath at the military post of the Indo-China border, in the 2017 Gurez sector of Northern Kashmir. In 2016, he spent his Diwali with Indo-Tibetan Border Police in Himachal Pradesh, and in 2015 he visited the Punjab Border.
