'Local For Global': PM Modi Lauds India's Feat In Reaching $400 Bn Export Target In 'Mann Ki Baat' | HIGHLIGHTS

PM Modi Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi had shared a concise booklet that showcased the interesting aspects of last month's Mann Ki Baat episode including interviews with some of those who were featured.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday highlighted India's achievement in reaching exports worth USD 400 billion, saying that the feat shows the nation's strength and potential.

It means there is rising demand for Indian products and the supply chain is also able to meet the same, he said addressing the 87th edition of the 'Mann Ki Baat' radio programme.

"India achieved the export target of 400 billion dollars i.e. Rs 30 lakh crore. This signifies India's capabilities and potential. It means that the demand for Indian goods is rising in the world," PM Narendra Modi said in 'Mann Ki Baat'.

He credited India's farmers, artisans, weavers, engineers, small entrepreneurs, the MSME sector and people from many different professions as being the nation's strength.

He mentioned that earlier, it was believed only major corporations can sell products to the Government but the Government eMarketplace Portal has changed this notion as sellers are able to sell their products to the government directly, "it shows the spirit of a New India." 

When every Indian becomes 'vocal for local' then it does not take long for local products to go global, PM Modi added as he urged citizens to give a major push to 'Local For Global'.

The Prime Minister also said, "One of the encouraging trends in recent years is the rise and success of several start-ups and enterprises in the AYUSH sector."

PM Modi Lauds Swami Sivananda, Appreciates Citizens' Efforts Water Conservation

PM Modi lauded Yoga guru Swami Sivananda who was recently honoured with Padma Shri, saying: "In the recently concluded Padma awards, you must have seen Baba Sivananda, everybody was surprised by looking at his vigour and fitness. His health is a topic of discussion in the country. He has a passion for Yoga."

In his monthly radio programme, the Prime Minister appreciates several ordinary citizens for their extraordinary service to the nation and society.

On Sunday, he spoke about Nasik resident Chandrakishore for his efforts into conserving natural water sources.

"Some individuals are putting commendable efforts into conserving natural water sources. Chandrakishore in Nasik discourages people who litter around the Godavari river. Rahul Maharana in Puri clean plastic garbage from the premises of religious places," PM Modi said.

Speaking about Muppatam Srinarayan from Kerala, he mentioned, "People like Muppatam Srinarayan are so caring towards animals that they distribute mud utensils so that people can provide water to birds and animals. He has given 1 lakh such utensils and will donate them to Gandhiji's Ashram."

The Prime Minister also mentioned the government's 'Jal Mandir Yojana' as he said, "I come from Gujarat which faces water scarcity. Stepwells are crucial in Gujarat for water. 'Jal Mandir Yojana' was a turning point in water conservation and in rejuvenating stepwells. It did help in increasing water levels in many areas."

Meanwhile, PM Modi paid tributes to Mahatma Phule and Savirtirbai Phule for their service in promoting female education. 

"Mahatma Phule and Savirtirbai Phule raised their voices for social issues like female education and female foeticide. We have begun 'Kanya Shiksha Pravesh Utsav' to bring back girls, who could not complete their education, to schools. 

Notably, this is his first 'Mann Ki Baat' address after BJP's victory in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa in recently concluded assembly elections.
