Prime Minister Modi called on Congress President Kharge, who fell ill during a rally in Jammu, to enquire about his health.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi enquired about Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's health after he fell ill while addressing a public rally in the Jasrota belt of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on Sunday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and enquired about his health, news agency PTI reported.

The prime minister wished him good health, PTI reported citing official sources.

Kharge was paying tribute to a head constable killed during an ongoing operation against terrorists in the region when he began feeling uneasy.

Kharge also highlighted Congress’s historical contributions, referencing former prime ministers. "Who freed Bangladesh? Indira Gandhi did it. The 'Jai Jawan Jai Kisan' slogan was given by us. Pakistan was defeated by us under Lal Bahadur Shastri. This is Congress," he remarked.

The Congress president was in Jasrota to garner support for the party's candidates in the upcoming assembly polls. Jammu and Kashmir Congress Vice President Ravindra Sharma mentioned that doctors had examined Kharge after the incident and would decide whether he could attend a second rally scheduled for Ramnagar in Udhampur district.

Kharge’s condition is reportedly stable after the check-up by doctors. The Congress national president has been discharged from a hospital in Kathua, news agency ANI reported.
