PM Modi Dials Mallikarjun Kharge After Congress President's Health Deteriorates At Jammu Rally
Prime Minister Modi called on Congress President Kharge, who fell ill during a rally in Jammu, to enquire about his health.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi enquired about Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's health after he fell ill while addressing a public rally in the Jasrota belt of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on Sunday. The prime minister wished him good health, PTI reported citing official sources.
Kharge was paying tribute to a head constable killed during an ongoing operation against terrorists in the region when he began feeling uneasy.
Congress general secretary Gulam Ahmed Mir informed PTI that Kharge became dizzy during his speech and had to sit down. "His colleagues helped him onto a chair. He is stable now after receiving medical attention," Mir added.
'I Will Stay Alive Till PM Modi Is Removed From Power': Congress Chief Kharge At Jammu Rally
After receiving treatment at the rally venue, Kharge addressed the crowd, stating, "I am 83 years old. I am not going to die so early. I will stay alive till PM Modi is removed from power... I wanted to talk, but due to dizziness, I had to sit down. Please pardon me."

Kharge also highlighted Congress’s historical contributions, referencing former prime ministers. "Who freed Bangladesh? Indira Gandhi did it. The 'Jai Jawan Jai Kisan' slogan was given by us. Pakistan was defeated by us under Lal Bahadur Shastri. This is Congress," he remarked.
The Congress president was in Jasrota to garner support for the party's candidates in the upcoming assembly polls. Jammu and Kashmir Congress Vice President Ravindra Sharma mentioned that doctors had examined Kharge after the incident and would decide whether he could attend a second rally scheduled for Ramnagar in Udhampur district.
Kharge’s condition is reportedly stable after the check-up by doctors. The Congress national president has been discharged from a hospital in Kathua, news agency ANI reported.
