PM Modi’s Dig At Oppn In Mahoba: ‘To Keep Farmers Entangled In Various Problems’ Been Base Of Politics For Some Parties

Lauding the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, PM Modi said: “Mahoba is a witness to how we have brought the government from the closed-door rooms of Delhi”.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday hit out at the opposition saying that the base of politics for some political parties has been “to keep farmers entangled in various problems”.

The remarks came as PM Modi addressed a gathering in Mahoba after inaugurating the ‘Arjun Sahayak Project’.

“To keep farmers entangled in various problems has been the base of politics for some political parties. They play politics of problems whereas our ‘rashtra niti’ is aimed at solving problems”: PM Narendrs Modi said in Mahoba, as quoted by news agency ANI.

In another dig at the previous governments, the Prime Minister said: “For the first time, the people of Bundelkhand are seeing the government working for their development. Previous governments did not get tired of looting UP but we do not get tired of working”.

“Those who ruled Delhi and Uttar Pradesh for a long time left no stone unturned to ruin this region. It is no secret how jungles and resources of this region were handed over to mafias. Now that bulldozer is being used against these mafias, some people are making a hue and cry,” he added.

Lauding the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, PM Modi stated that “Mahoba is a witness to how we have brought the government from the closed-door rooms of Delhi to every nook and corner of the country in the last 7 years”.

The Prime Minister inaugurated several projects in Mahoba including Arjun Sahayak Project, Ratauli Weir Project, Bhaoni Dam Project, and Majhgaon-Chilli Sprinkler Project. The cumulative cost of these projects is more than Rs 3,250 crore.

Later in the day, PM Modi will participate in a programme during which he will lay the foundation stone of 600 MW Ultramega Solar Power Park at Garautha in Jhansi.

The Prime Minister, in a major surprise announcement earlier today, said that the Union government has decided to repeal the contentious agrarian laws which have been at the centre of farmers’ protests at Delhi borders going to complete one year on November 26.

Hundreds of farmers, mainly from Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, are encamped at Delhi borders since November last year demanding that the government repeal the three agrarian laws -- Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; Farmers' (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020; and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.

Apart from the repeal of farm laws, a legal guarantee on Minimum Support Price (MSP) has been one of the major demands of the farmers.

“I have come to tell you that we have decided to repeal the three farm laws. In the upcoming Parliament session starting at the end of this month, we will complete the constitutional process to repeal the three farm laws,” PM Modi said, addressing the nation on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti.

He also requested all protesting farmers to return home to their fields and families and make a new beginning on this auspicious occasion, a day when gurudwaras across the country are lit up to celebrate the festival.

“Let us move forward afresh,” he had appealed.
