PM Modi Mumbai Visit: To Inaugurate Bohra Muslim Community's Arabic Academy In Marol, Security Tightened

After the opening of the Arabic Academy, the Prime Minister will also launch Vande Bharat Express trains on Mumbai-Solapur and Mumbai-Shirdi routes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the commercial capital Mumbai on Friday, February 10. During his visit to the city, the PM will inaugurate the Dawoodi Bohra community’s Arabic Academy in the Marol area of Andheri East. 

A sizeable population of the Bohra Muslim community lives in the area. This will be the new campus of the academy which will be inaugurated in Marol by the Prime Minister. The original campus is located in Surat, Gujarat.

The inauguration of the university by the Prime minister is scheduled for 4.30 pm and the entire Marol area has been decked up for his visit.

PM To Inaugurate Vande Bharat Express Trains 

After the opening of the Arabic Academy, the Prime Minister will also launch Vande Bharat Express trains on Mumbai-Solapur and Mumbai-Shirdi routes.

In view of Prime Ministers visit, the Mumbai Police have banned flying of drones, paragliders, all type of balloons and remote-controlled microlight aircraft on February 10 for security reasons. An order to this effect was under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code was ordered on February 3, said the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), according to news agency PTI.

Airport, Sahar, Colaba, Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Marg, MIDC and Andheri police stations are some of the places where these restrictions will remain in place for 24 hours on February 10, unless withdrawn earlier, reported the news agenc, citing city police order.

“It is also apprehended that during the PM’s visit on February 10 at Mumbai Airport, INS Shikra, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Marol in Andheri, terrorist/anti- social elements may attack using drone, paragliders, remote control microlight aircraft and there is every likelihood of breach of peace and disturbance to public tranquility,” the Mumbai police order read.

This is the second visit of the Prime Minister to Mumbai in two months. On January 19, the PM had visited the city and inaugurated two new lines of the Mumbai metro- 2A and 7, a 35-km long elevated corridor stretching from Andheri to Dahisar, which costs around ₹12,600 crore. In total the Prime Minister had inaugurated projects worth Rs 38,000 crore.

The back-to-back visits of Modi assume significance in the wake of the upcoming local body polls, including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) election. 

The  Shiv Sena has been ruling the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for the last 25 years. But after the split in Shiv Sena, the BJP looks like a strong contender to win the BMC elections.
