PM Modi Meets President Kovind; Issues Of National & International Importance Discussed

The meeting comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid a surprise visit to Leh, in Ladakh, the current centre of India-China tensions.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday met with President of India Ram Nath Kovind  and held a half-an-hour long discussion over issues of national and international importance. He addressed the soldiers and boosted their morale amid the ongoing border dispute with China, which escalated after the June 15 clashes in the higher reaches of that region with Chinese troops in which 20 army personnel sacrificed their lives for the nation. The meeting assumes high significance at the time of heightened tensions with immediate neighbor China. While India has been busy in border dispute with China, reports claim that Pakistan too has moved a good amount of troops along the Gilgit Baltistan border. Meanwhile, in New Delhi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh along with Home Minister Amit Shah visited DRDO-built Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Covid-19 Hospital in Delhi Cantonment.
