PM Modi Convenes Parliament Strategy Meeting With Senior Ministers Amid Ongoing Monsoon Session
PM Modi and the senior ministers are likely to plan the government's approach ahead of the No-Confidence Motion discussion in Parliament.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is meeting with senior ministers, including Rajnath Singh, on Friday to discuss strategies during the ongoing Monsoon session of Parliament in New Delhi. The session is likely to focus on key issues, including how to handle the opposition and plan the government's approach ahead of the No-Confidence Motion discussion in Parliament.
The meeting comes right after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) issued a three-line whip to its Lok Sabha MPs from the 7th to 11th of August to be present in the House and support Government's stand and bills.
The current session of Parliament has experienced several disruptions as the opposition, under the new bloc named Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), has been demanding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi address the issue of violence in Manipur and a recent viral video incident. The BJP-led Centre has maintained that the matter falls under the purview of the Home Ministry, and Union Minister Amit Shah is prepared to provide a statement in Parliament over the Manipur debate. However, the opposition has insisted on hearing directly from the Prime Minister.

Despite the Centre's reluctance, the Opposition parties have pursued a strategy of introducing a no-confidence motion against the Modi government to compel the Prime Minister to speak on the Manipur situation. Although they are aware that the numbers are not in their favour in the lower House of Parliament, they are using the motion to press their demands.
On Wednesday, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla admitted a no-confidence motion moved by Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi against the Modi government following a headcount of over 50 MPs, as per the requirements under the rules.
In response to the motion, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has allocated a fixed duration of 17 hours for the discussion on the motion of no-confidence, scheduled in the upcoming parliamentary session. Prime Minister Modi is set to respond to the motion on August 10.
