PM Modi Hands Over Chadar To Be Offered On Urs At Ajmer Dargah
PM Modi has been annually offering a chadar, a traditional offering, for the event which marks the death anniversary of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti at the Ajmer Dargah.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday handed over a ‘chadar’ to Minority Affairs Minister Smriti Irani and others to be offered on the Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah.
An Urs is a death anniversary of a Sufi saint which is usually observed at the saint’s dargah (shrine or tomb). Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti was one of the most notable Sufi saints who was also known as ‘Gharib Nawaz’, benefactor of the poor and his shrine at Rajasthan’s Ajmer draws a huge crowd round the year.
“Handed over the Chadar which would be offered on the Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah,” PM Modi tweeted Tuesday.
