PM Modi draws flak for his statement on Ram Mandir ahead of crucial SC hearing

The RSS on Tuesday said people expect the Modi government to fulfill its promise of building the Ram temple within its tenure as the BJP was elected to power in 2014 for committing to all possible efforts to do so.

New Delhi: As the Supreme Court is set to hear the case on Ram Mandir  on Friday, the politics surrounded the same has heated up as petitioner Mahant Dharmdas  has put forth a demand of removing Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi by moving a impeachment motion against him for delaying the hearing on the case. The strong statement comes when the apex court is due for a hearing on Friday. Commenting on PM Modi’s recent statement on Ayodhya Dispute made during an interview to a news agency, LJP leader Ram Vilas Paswan on Thursday backed PM Modi and said “Court order will be respected by everyone”. PM Modi during an interview said “no action on Ram Temple can be taken till court verdict is out’. This statement of PM Modi drew flak from various people, including RSS and Sena. The RSS on Tuesday said people expect the Modi government to fulfill its promise of building the Ram temple within its tenure as the BJP was elected to power in 2014 for committing to all possible efforts to do so. "Under the leadership of Modi, the BJP in its 2014 election manifesto had promised to make all possible efforts within the ambit of the Constitution to build the Ram temple. People of India gave the BJP a majority, trusting their promise," the RSS tweeted. The reaction from the Hindutva organisation's joint general secretary Dattatreya Hosabole came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi said any government action on the temple construction can happen only after judicial process is over. Even Shiv Sena took on PM Modi and said “Lord Ram is not bigger than the law for Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he has said that his government can take a decision on an ordinance for the Ram temple's construction only after the judicial process is over”. The Shiv Sena, an ally of the BJP, has demanded an ordinance to pave the way for the temple's construction in Ayodhya, arguing that the matter has been dragging in courts for decades. "The Supreme Court has said (hearing on the) Ram Mandir is not an urgent matter. Modi also did not say anything different. I congratulate him for making his position clear on the matter. "...(The prime minister says) Will not bring an ordinance for the Ram temple. The constitutional meaning of this is that Lord Ram is not bigger than the law," Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut tweeted. In the interview broadcast by various television channels, Modi talked about a host of issues including surgical strikes, the Ram temple construction and personal attacks on him by the Congress. Modi accused the Congress leadership of politicising and delaying the legal process in clearance of Ram temple construction.
