Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with Mauritius' highest honour, 'The Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean,' award during his two-day visit on Tuesday.
PM Modi is the first Indian to receive this prestigious award, for his contributions in strengthening ties between India and Mauritius. This marks the 21st international award conferred upon PM Modi by a foreign nation, according to the Ministry of External Affairs.
PM Modi has received several international awards since 2014 and these are the top honours over the past 11 years.

Order of St. Andrew (Russia, 2024): In July 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin conferred Russia’s highest civilian honor, the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle, upon PM Modi for his significant contributions to strengthening India-Russia relations.
Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados (2024): In 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honored with the 'Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados'. Expressing gratitude, he acknowledged the recognition of his contributions towards strengthening international relations.
Order of Excellence (Guyana, 2024): The 'Order of Excellence' was conferred upon PM Modi by Guyana's President, Irfaan Ali, in 2024. This award recognised his leadership during the pandemic and his efforts in fostering ties between India and the Caribbean nations.

Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (Nigeria, 2024): PM Modi was awarded Nigeria’s second-highest distinction, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, in 2024. This recognition highlighted his role in enhancing diplomatic relations between India and Nigeria.
