PM Modi Condoles Bengaluru Stampede Tragedy As 11 Killed Amid RCB Celebrations

Following a stampede in Bengaluru that killed ten people celebrating RCB's IPL 2025 victory, Prime Minister Modi expressed his sorrow, calling the incident "heartrending."

Hours after ten people have been reportedly dead in the stampede during the celebrations of IPL 2025 winner RCB, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called the mishap heartrending. He also prayed for those injured and also for a speedy recovery.

"The mishap in Bengaluru is absolutely heartrending. In this tragic hour, my thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that those who are injured have a speedy recovery," Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on X.

Karnataka Deputy CM Issues Public Apology

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar issued a public apology. However, the Karnataka Congress chief went on to say that he would not blame the administration and their administration was the best.

In a statement to PTI, Shivakumar said: "We are very proud of RCB and Karnataka. 18 years, a long struggle. Kohli's loyalty has paid royalty... I think this is not a controllable crowd. I apologise to all the people of Bengaluru and Karnataka, we wanted to take a procession, but the crowd is uncontrollable."

According to news agency PTI, police used mild force to control the crowd and bring the situation under control ahead of a special felicitation at the stadium for the RCB team organised by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). 

If eye-witnesses is to be believed, a stampede-like situation emerged as fans thronged the venue of felicitation. Visuals showed police shifting the injured persons and those who fell unconscious in ambulances to nearby hospitals. Visuals also showed some of those who were in an unconscious state being administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by those nearby. Police had a tough time in crowd management as a large number of cricket enthusiasts tried to gain entry, at the same time, into the stadium.

According to a traffic advisory from the Bengaluru police, entry to Chinnaswamy Stadium was limited to only those with valid tickets and passes. As there is limited parking facility available near the Chinnaswamy Stadium, those who are attending the event are advised to use public transport and the metro. The public is requested to cooperate, it had said.
