PM Modi, In 35-Min Call, Tells Trump US Had No Role To Play In Indo-Pak Mediation

In a 35-minute call, PM Modi informed President Trump that India's 'Operation Sindoor' against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism continues, dismissing any US mediation role.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a 35-minute phone call with US President Donald Trump on Wednesday. On the call, PM Modi told Trump that India's offensive against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism,  Operation Sindoor, is still in effect. He also firmly told Trump that the US had no role to play in the brief hiatus in the Operation.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, in a press briefing, said: "President Trump and PM Modi had a conversation for about 35 minutes today. During the conversation, PM Modi told Trump that India will reply to Pakistan's bullets with shells. PM Modi said India's Operation Sindoor is still going on."

Misri further said that PM Modi clearly told Trump that neither did India and the US spoken on any trade deal, nor did the US play a role the mediation process. "The mediation was done via existing channels between India and Pakistan at the request of the latter," Misri said.

PM Modi Invites Trump

During the conversation, PM Modi invited Trump to India. President Trump, too, was keen on a visit.

PM Modi and President Trump were scheduled to meet on the sidelines of G7 Summit. President Trump had to return to the US early, due to which this meeting could not take place. Trump, too, asked PM Modi if he can visit the US on his return from Canada. PM Modi, however, expressed his inability to accept the invitation due to prior engagements.

After this, President Trump requested to speak with PM Modi, said Misri. After the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22, President Trump had spoken with PM Modi over the phone and expressed condolences and had also expressed support in the fight against terrorism.
