Will Use Artificial Intelligence To Further Bring 'Ease Of Justice': PM Modi At Gauhati HC Event

Speaking at the Platinum Jubilee celebration of the Gauhati High Court on Friday, PM Modi said that the law should be written in a language that the people of the country can understand.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday called for the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in courtrooms to facilitate ease of justice and stressed that law should be written in a language that the people of the country can understand. The Prime Minister was speaking at the Platinum Jubilee celebration of the Gauhati High Court.

PM Modi said in the 21st century, India's dreams and aspirations are limitless, and the judiciary would have to create a vibrant, strong, and modern legal outlook in order to fulfil them, news agency PTI reported. The PM also stated that Gauhati HC has its own heritage and identity.

PM Modi emphasised the importance of alternative dispute resolution systems in the state, citing the rich northeastern traditions.
Alternative dispute resolution (ADR) refers to the various methods by which people can resolve disputes without going to court. Mediation, arbitration, and neutral evaluation are examples of common ADR processes. These procedures are typically more private, less formal, and less stressful than traditional court proceedings.

The prime minister also gave an account of previous work done in the state, stating that the government has mapped properties in over 1 lakh villages through the PM Swamitva Yojana.

He further said that the government and the judiciary both play roles in ensuring 'ease of living'; technology is a powerful tool for this. "Will use artificial intelligence to improve 'Ease of Justice':" PM Narendra Modi

PM Modi In Assam:

Earlier in the day, the prime minister stated that the establishment of new facilities such as AIIMS, Guwahati, and medical colleges will strengthen healthcare infrastructure in Assam and the entire Northeast.

Over the last nine years, he said, his government has worked hard to ensure dramatic improvements in social infrastructure in the Northeast.

"The Northeast was distant for previous governments...we have served with dedication to bring it close," the prime minister said at a ceremony to dedicate the nation's first AIIMS in the North East, built at a cost of Rs 1,123 crore.

Modi also officially opened three medical colleges in Nalbari, Nagaon, and Kokrajhar.

The three medical colleges' 500-bed tertiary care teaching hospitals with 24 undergraduate departments will begin with 100 annual MBBS student intakes, bringing Assam's total MBBS student intake to 1500.

He also laid the groundwork for the Rs 546 crore Assam Advanced Healthcare Innovation Institute (AAHII), a state government and IIT Guwahati collaboration.

AAHII's mission is to promote inventions and innovations in medicine and healthcare, as well as to foster multidisciplinary research and development in frontier areas of medicine by combining engineering and healthcare.

The prime minister also announced the distribution of 1.1 crores Ayushman cards to beneficiaries, who will be able to use these cards to receive cashless healthcare medical treatment benefits of up to Rs five lakh.
