PM CARES Fund: Narendra Modi Appoints New Trustees, Ratan Tata On List
The trustees appreciated the effort and role played by the PM CARES Fund to help the country in crucial times like the pandemic.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday chaired a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the PM CARES Fund where he was briefed on the various initiatives undertaken by the government under the scheme, including the PM CARES for Children which is supporting 4345 children, said the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
The scheme (PM CARES for Children) was launched by the Prime Minister on May 29, 2021, to support children who have lost both their parents or legal guardian or adoptive parents or surviving parents to COVID-19 pandemic, during the period from March 11, 2020, to February 28, 2022.
The trustees appreciated the effort and role played by the PM CARES Fund to help the country in crucial times like the pandemic. PM Modi welcomed the Trustees for becoming an integral part of it and also thanked the people of the country in contributing wholeheartedly towards the fund.
While speaking at the occasion, the Prime Minister urged new trustees to join the fund in order to make it "more responsive to various public needs."
"Participation of new Trustees and Advisors will provide wider perspectives to the functioning of the PM CARES Fund. Their vast experience of public life would impart further vigour in making the fund more responsive to various public needs," said the Prime Minister.

Hon’ble Justice KT Thomas, former Judge, Supreme Court, Shri Karia Munda, former Deputy Speaker and Shri Ratan Tata Joined as Trustees of the PM CARES Fund, the PMO said.
The Trust also decided to nominate Rajiv Mehrishi, Former Comptroller and Auditor General of India, Sudha Murthy, Former Chairperson, Infosys Foundation and Anand Shah, Co-founder of Teach for India for constitution of Advisory Board to PM CARES Fund.
