People in Punjab and Goa will come out openly as Model Code of Conduct is imposed: Kejriwal

New Delhi: AAP chief and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal welcomed the announcement of assembly election dates in Punjab and Goa by the Election Commission of India on Wednesday. Kejriwal said that the electorate in the two states were desperately waiting for the dates to be announced as they want to uproot the current governments in power. “Election to be held in Punjab and Goa on February 4 and we welcome it. People here were desperate to know about poll dates. People in Punjab are in a pitiable condition and very desperately want to uproot the coalition government of BJP and Akali. They want AAP’s honest government here so that they get rid of drugs and corruption,” Kejriwal told reporters. “Secondly people were afraid of coming out freely but they will not as the model code of conducted is become effective,” he added. AAP leader Ashutosh also said the party was confident of winning the assembly elections in Goa and Punjab and forming governments there. After the Election Commission announced the polling dates in five states, he said: "AAP is fully geared up for elections. We are prepared. AAP is confident of forming the governments in Goa and Punjab." Goa and Punjab go to the polls on February 4.
