People Are Aware, They Want Corrupt Elements To Be Taught A Lesson: BJP Slams Oppn Over ED, CBI Raids

Reacting to the raids being conducted on opposition leaders by central agencies, BJP's Gaurav Bhatia said that people have become aware now, and they want every corrupt element to be taught a lesson.

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia on Saturday reacted to the raids being conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement Directorate on the leaders of opposition parties including Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav and said that people have become aware now, and they want every corrupt element to be taught a lesson. He also said Congress was absolutely engaged in a series of scams every now and then.

“Congress was absolutely engaged in a series of scams every now and then; it was perpetrator of the 2G Scam, CWG Scam and what not! That was a time of sheer corruption. But now, people have become aware, and they want every corrupt element to be taught a lesson,” Bhatia said during a press conference.

Speaking on the Delhi Liquor policy case involving the former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Bhatia said, Sisodia is intrumental in furthering the shameful activities and he has been strongly 'inebriated' by the corruption. “The Court has rightly said that the custodial interrogation of Manish Sisodia is a must. Manish Sisodia is intrumental in furthering the shameful activities and he has been strongly 'inebriated' by the corruption,” Gaurav Bhatia said.

During the press conference, Bhatia also slammed Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader and daughter of Telangana Chief Minister KCR, K Kavitha and said that if a person is honest and not involved in any law-defying act then they will clearly say so but K Kavitha has not said anything like that while being questioned by ED.

“If it is an honest person, who is not involved in any law-defying act, they'll clearly say so without ifs or buts. But K Kavitha is being questioned & she hasn't said anything like that. They'll play the victim card but won't answer the public's questions: Gaurav Bhatia said as quoted by the news agency ANI.

“So, it should be asked again if she has anything to do with Indospirits. She will have to say if she has anything to do with Buchi Babu. It seems that this corruption is so massive that when all links are getting connected, people too are pained that these corrupt people looted them & filled their own coffers, he added.

Gaurav Bhatia launched a scathing attack on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and said that earlier Kumar himself demanded action against former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi and Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav and now when the action is being taken, he is not talking about the facts. He further said that this is why the public calls Nitish Kumar “Paltu ram”.

“That's why the public calls Nitish Kumar ji paltu Ram... Nitish ji, didn't you demand that there are serious allegations of corruption on Lalu Yadav ji, Rabri ji and Tejashwi ji and action should be taken against them but today when the action is being taken, why are you not talking about the facts,” Gaurav Bhatia said.

Earlier in the day, Nitish Kumar reacted to the raids by the Central agencies' on Opposition leaders, including Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav, who was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate at his residence in New Delhi on Friday in the Land-for-Jobs scam, and said that the raids were happening in 2017 when Janata Dal United and Rashtriya Janata Dal had parted their ways and when our parties have came together the raids are happening again after 5 years. He also said that those who are being raided are responding to the raids. Bhatia said, “today the public is expectating that who so ever is corrupt, should realise that how strong the law is.”

“When the corrupt people are caught, they never talk about that issue, however, they also know from inside that they have been involved in corruption,” he added.
