Indian Army Responds Firmly to Pakistan’s Unprovoked Ceasefire Violation Along LoC

Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked small arms fire along the LoC in multiple sectors. The Indian Army responded promptly and proportionately, ensuring effective retaliation.

Pakistani troops continued their unprovoked ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) for the tenth consecutive night, with small arms fire targeting multiple areas in Jammu and Kashmir, including Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajauri, Mendhar, Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor. The Indian Army responded in a calibrated and proportionate manner, maintaining its commitment to safeguarding its personnel and territory.

"During the night of 03–04 May 2025, Pakistan Army posts resorted to unprovoked small arms fire across the LoC," said an Army spokesperson. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported from the border skirmishes initiated by Pakistani troops, who have consistently violated the ceasefire agreement since April 24, 2025. This escalation follows the terror attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 people, mostly tourists. The attack has contributed to heightened tensions between the two nations.

Pakistan’s aggressive actions escalated after India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty following the terror attack. On April 24, Pakistan retaliated by blocking its airspace for Indian airlines, closing the Wagah border crossing, suspending all trade with India, and threatening any diversion of water under the Indus Waters Treaty as an "act of war."

The unprovoked firing from Pakistan continued across various sectors of the LoC, including Kupwara, Uri, and Akhnoor, triggering a swift and proportionate response from the Indian Army. Local civilians living along the LoC and International Border (IB) began reinforcing and cleaning their community bunkers in preparation for possible shelling.

These ceasefire violations, which began on the night of April 24, have been a daily occurrence, starting from the Kashmir Valley and spreading across multiple regions. On May 1-2, Pakistani Army posts resorted to unprovoked small arms fire, targeting areas in Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Naushera, and Akhnoor. The Indian Army’s response has been consistent, emphasizing their tactical restraint while defending national security.

This is not the first time Pakistan has violated the ceasefire. Even before the Pahalgam attack, multiple violations occurred. However, this marks the 10th consecutive breach since the Indian government abrogated the Indus Water Treaty.
