Owaisi Distributes Black Armbands During Friday Prayers At Hyderabad Mosque To Protest Pahalgam Attack

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Owaisi urged people attending Juma Namaz to wear the black armband in solidarity with the victims.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi distributed black armbands to worshippers ahead of Friday prayers in Hyderabad as a symbolic protest against the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. The distribution took place at a mosque in Shastripuram, where Owaisi himself also wore a black band.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Owaisi urged people attending Juma Namaz to wear the black armband in solidarity with the victims. "Juma Namaz, please do wear a black band around your arms to protest the terrorist act perpetrated by LeT in Pahalgam against innocent Indians," he wrote.

The attack, which occurred on April 22 at a popular tourist site near Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians—marking the most devastating assault in the Valley since the 2019 Pulwama attack.

AIMIM Backs Govt’s Response

Reacting to the central government's stance, Owaisi welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s firm statement promising unprecedented retribution against the attackers and their masterminds. He affirmed that AIMIM fully supports measures taken in the national interest. Speaking to the media, the Hyderabad MP emphasised the importance of accountability, stating that justice for the victims’ families can only be achieved if responsibility is clearly assigned and the perpetrators brought to justice.

"There should be no compromise on terrorism. The need of the hour is to take care of the nation. Whatever steps the government takes for the national interest, security, and protection of Kashmiris, the AIMIM will support them. In this critical time, we have to be united for national interest," Owaisi said, as per a report on PTI.

He also expressed support for the Cabinet Committee on Security’s recent decisions and urged a reassessment of the current counter-terrorism strategy.
