Operation Chakra: CBI Conducts Searches At Around 105 Locations Across Country, Says Report

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) along with different states and Union Territories police forces carried out searches at around 105 locations across India, reports news agency ANI on Tuesday. The search operations are launched under 'Operation Chakra,' which is aimed at combating cyber-enabled financial crimes. A significant amount of digital evidence, Rs 1.5 crore in cash, and 1.5kg gold were recovered.

87 locations are being searched by the CBI and 18 locations are being searched by state and UT police in which over 300 suspects are under the scanner, official sources told news agency PTI.
According to initial information, four locations in Andaman and Nicobar islands, five in Delhi, three in Chandigarh, and two each in Punjab, Karanataka and Assam among others are being searched under the operation, they said.

Officials said they busted two call centres in Pune and Ahmedabad that were targeting unsuspecting American citizens.
The CBI has notified America's Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) about the action, according to officials, reports PTI.
The CBI seized Rs 1.5 crore in cash and one and a half kg of gold from one of the locations searched in Rajasthan, they said.

The action came after inputs from Interpol, FBI, Royal Canadian Mountain Police and Australian Federal Police, they said.
