'Only 5-6 Days Of Covid Vaccine Left': Kejriwal Appeals Centre For 3 Lakh Doses Per Day To Inoculate Delhi

New Delhi: As the country faces a shortage of vaccines and most of the districts still await 18+ inoculation drive, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal addressed a press conference stating that to provide an adequate amount of vaccines as the Delhi government is targetting complete inoculation in the national capital in the coming 3 months.
Kejriwal said, "To complete vaccination within 3 months, we need to vaccinate 3 lakh people every day. Currently, we are inoculating 1 lakh people in a day. I request the Central government to ensure adequate availability of vaccines to Delhi."
The Delhi Chief Minister said that the capital needs to increase vaccination three times and demanded that the Centre should supply around 2.6 crore vaccine doses for inoculation of all people in the national capital in the next three months.
Currently, vaccination is going on at 100 centres in Delhi. The number of centres will be increased to 250-300 by the Delhi government, he said in an online briefing.
In order to vaccinate all people in Delhi, over three crore doses will be required, out of which around 40 lakh have already been received, he said.
The Chief Minister urged the Centre to provide it 85 lakh doses per month so that all the Delhiites could be vaccinated in the next three months.
Kejriwal also said that people from NCR towns like Noida, Ghaziabad are getting vaccinated in Delhi as the national capital has better arrangements. So, to inoculate all, Delhi needs more than 3 crore doses for each day.
He said that Delhi currently has vaccine doses to vaccinate people for the next 5-6 days and urged the Centre to provide adequate doses.
Kejriwal also focused on the need for vaccination for children below 18 years and requested the Centre to find a solution for it as the govt has said the third wave is likely to affect children.
